INSTITUTIONAL PROFILE Mbeya University of Science and Technology traces its origins to 1986, when the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania established Mbeya Technical College (MTC) to build national capacity in technical education.

Tanzania Profile Tanzania has 52 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), 20 are publicly owned and 32 are privately owned and have been approved by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). Further, there are 1130 registered and accredited institutions providing technical and vocational education and training through the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET).

Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Wrocław Tech) was established in 1945, mainly as a result of the involvement of the academic staff of the now-defunct Technical University of Lviv and the Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv, who adapted the destroyed buildings of the German School of Technology – Technische Hochschule.

Poland follows the Bologna scheme and most of its tertiary level programmes are made of two cycles: a three-year bachelor’s degree followed by a two-year master’s degree. Some master’s degrees are however granted after a unique long-cycle programme, lasting between four and six years (Ex: five years for pharmacy, six year for medicine).

The Polish–Tanzanian Conference on Structural Integrity and Engineering Sciences is an international scientific and educational event aimed at strengthening academic cooperation between Poland and Tanzania and creating a platform for young researchers, doctoral candidates, academic teachers and engineers working in broadly understood engineering sciences.
